As Deputy Group Financial Controller I was primarily responsible for all external reporting and the tax affairs of the Group, in addition to deputising as needed for the Group Financial Controller. • Led the annual report process, prepared a significant amount of the content of the 100+ page accounts, and coordinated the assistance of the wider group finance team and other business functions.• Managed and prepared the annual and interim results, ensured all external reporting requirements were met, and coordinated the audit process with the external auditors. • Responsible for a team of four in the Group finance team.• Ensured compliance with all HMRC deadlines and requirements.• As the primary VAT expert within the Group, liaised with external tax advisors, provided frequent internal training sessions, and conducted spot checks on VAT compliance.

Within the Financial Controls team, I had responsibility for providing technical accounting advice to the business and delivering major accounting projects.• Led and delivered significant accounting projects including the conversion from IFRS to US GAAP following acquisition by an American company.• Set and delivered the US GAAP and general accounting training agenda for the Finance function (300+ people), including the Finance Leadership Team. • Supported the month end close process by approving journal entries and consolidating additional supporting information.• Worked closely with the Group accounting team to determine the reporting requirements after acquisition, create the new Group accounting policies, and consult on technical accounting queries. • Provided quality accounting advice to the Finance function while maintaining the appropriate balance between commercial and accounting focus.
