I coach, advise and evaluate aspiring school leaders as they progress through the Principal Residency Network program, an alternative-pathway program for school leader certification.

I create content that trains and develops current and aspiring school leaders on topics like school culture, talent management, teacher development and evaluation, leadership, equity, and diversity. I also manage internal and external relationships with clients and partners.

I facilitated online courses on Universal Design for Learning by reviewing course materials, leading weekly discussions, reviewing/grading and responding to student writing and assignments.

I served as the instructional leader and building manager for a K-3 college prep public charter school of approximately 350 scholars and 40 staff. As Head of School I was responsible for overseeing the academic program and driving the school toward achieving strong academic results. I designed professional development for teachers, coached and evaluated teachers, managed non-instructional staff, built family partnerships, and managed building safety and budget.Blackstone Valley prep ES1 was classified as a Commended School in July of 2013.

As the Program Manager for the Staffing Initiative, I managed the vacancy tracker for all school-based vacancies, revised the applicant and principal workflows to maximize time on the Providence Applicant Tracking System (PATS), and tailored PATS query options to ensure real-time school-based vacancy reports. I created a prescreening system for external candidates, created a referral system to deepen the candidate pool for principals, trained principals and assistant principals on CBH selection model and interview techniques, and engaged in effectiveness conversations with principals across all grade levels.In the Performance Management Project, I developed systems, tools and procedures for collecting, organizing and analyzing school-based performance management data, developed, administered and analyzed the Leadership Culture Survey, project managed the development of principal professional development, and authored the Providence Framework for Teaching & Learning.

As an online course facilitator, I helped facilitate online webinars on Universal Design for Learning, graded assignments and projects, responded to student misconceptions and participated in virtual facilitator meetings to troubleshoot problems and improve the course. During this time I also completed literature reviews for CAST regarding professional learning communities and implications for the creation of digital tools.

In this role I promoted and trained McGraw Hill’s reading intervention programs, including Corrective Reading and Direct Instruction Reading Mastery. I consulted with program authors, researchers, administration and school-based staff, offering guidance and information on reading intervention and McGraw Hill’s specific programs’ efficacy in providing targeted, differentiated reading instruction. I traveled around the Northeast Region to complete school-based trainings on reading programs and model instruction.

As a 3rd and 4th grade teacher, I planned and taught mathematics, social studies, science, and language arts, including Balanced Literacy and Reading Mastery, to students from diverse cultural backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. I was part of a team that led school-wide reform efforts in literacy and math instruction that resulted in student test scores improving over 30% and School Report Card grades improving from a “D” to an “A” within four years. As an AmeriCorps Member, I was a full time volunteer in a Title I reading room in rural Tenino, WA. In this role I tutored students with severe reading challenges in grades 2-5 and ran an after-school reading program.
