About Line Kvartborg Vestergaard

I am a researcher interested in supporting transformations to social justice and ecological regeneration. My background is in anthropology where I have specialised in organisational anthropology, design, economics and innovation. My interests are broad and prior to my PhD project I've worked with product development in a scale-up, freelance qualitative consultancy work, managed a startup incubator and developed user-centred services as part of an innovation unit in a municipality. My curiosity has taken me back to research and I am currently doing an anthropological PhD equipping me with knowledge on how cities can transition to more inclusive economies and create sustainable futures for all species!! The working title of the PhD is "Doughnut Economics for Circular Development in Amsterdam".Read more 👇---------------------------------------------The PhD project:My PhD project sets out to explore the implementation of Doughnut Economics - a particular framework for rethinking economics and sustainability – that a growing number of cities and nations utilize to succeed in the transition needed and create more life-enhancing economies.Casting the city of Amsterdam as a case study, the project focuses on understanding the implementation of “the Doughnut” since Amsterdam is the first city apply the doughnut thinking in a city. Through 9 months of fieldwork among employees in departments of the municipality and civil led groups/initiatives, the project investigates what happens when a design framework/model hits the ground? What does it entail for municipal ways of working, which new local initiatives arise and how do businesses and civil society utilize to the doughnut? Supervisor: Kasper Tang Vangkilde, Associate Professor at Department of AnthropologyCo-supervisor: Christian Bason, CEO of the Danish Design Centre Funded by: Independent Research Fund DenmarkThis was a long read, but hey - reach out! I am always interested in meeting new people, get professional inspiration and widen my network, so if you are up for a cup of coffee please do not hesitate to contact me!
