I currently have the best job in the world as Marketing and Membership Director for the Association of Public Health Laboratories! It blends my laboratory science background, my skills in marketing/philanthropy and my need for sharing my enthusiasm for the career I chose so many years ago! I have worked in a variety of laboratory settings for the past 30+ years, including small clinical laboratories, large hospital medical centers, and a veterinary diagnostic laboratory. I have been in laboratory management for over 20 years, in both private and academic programs. In my previous job before APHL, I was the Program Manager for MSU College of Veterinary Medicine Diagnostic Laboratory Services and Herd Health, supervising a staff of 25 scientists and 16 faculty members. At APHL, I managed one of APHL's regional training offices for 7 years, gaining more expertise in project management, marketing, and development and delivery of adult continuing education. Subsequently, I became the Communications/Marketing Manager for our training department. After that, I solicited corporate memberships, sponsorships and other support for our non-profit association.
