Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) is an agency of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care responsible for the coordination of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Ontario. Our mandate includes increasing public awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation, education of health care professionals, and ensuring a safe and effective donation and transplant system in Ontario.• Performs the surgical recovery of ocular tissue, bones, heart valves, skin, and eyes as required from deceased individuals, packages and transports tissues in accordance with AATB, TGLN and Health Canada standards using aseptic technique.• Coordinates the tissue recovery process, which includes assessing the medical suitability of potential tissue donors in collaboration with members of the TGLN team.• Performs the screening, evaluation, packaging and transportation of human tissue in accordance with TGLN standards.• Performs technical duties in support of the recovery such as medical chart review, blood draw and physical examination of the deceased, prepares related supplies, equipment and surgical equipment, as well as other technical responsibilities.• Works closely with TGLN’s Provincial Resource Centre and local healthcare professionals throughout the process with respect to required information and support.

• Manages all the documentation additions, deletions, and revisions. Ensures that all affected stakeholders have read and understood any documentation updates. Follows-up with staff involved with document changes until the changes have been finalized. Keeps the controlled documentation current and ensures compliance from all staff.• Responds to identified TGLN Errors, Accidents and Adverse Reactions, develops a timely report to Health Canada and provides follow-up.• Investigates and follow-up on Corrective / Preventive Action cases until the cases are closed• Develops and writes process instructions to document organizational processes.• Conducts internal audits with both internal and external stakeholders.• Participates in continuous improvement projects.• Develops tools to support the clinical and operations functions.• Helps prepare multiple departments' records for external inspections and audits.• Collects data, populates tables and analyzes for trends. Identifies new opportunity areas for improvement and data gathering.

Kensington Health

The Eye Bank of Canada (Ontario Division) is the provincial organization responsible for theprocurement, processing and distribution of ocular tissue within Ontario and is the highestvolume eye bank in Canada. The Eye Bank is licensed by Health Canada to distribute eye tissue to hospitals and Independent Health Facilities all across Ontario. The quality of all donated tissue is validated by The Eye Bank using the Medical Standards of the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA).• Fine motor skills demonstrated through processing more than 700 pairs of eyes to date• Knowledgeable about ocular tissue, potential infectious materials and aseptic techniques• Physically examines ocular tissue and reviews medical charts in order to release tissue for surgeons • Ensures all work is done in compliance to SOPs and Health Canada standards• Worked closely with members of the TGLN team through referrals and on call• Distribute and package ocular tissue for surgery, research and medical training
