As there are several contraindications for the MRI procedure, it is imperative for each patient to have a medical screening prior to undergoing MRI. Questions are asked regarding surgical history to evaluate for the presence of metal implants, heart valve/cardiac stents, bullet/shrapnel remnants, etc... as these can pose a hazard to the patient while in or near the magnetic field. While in this position, I also was responsible for patient scheduling, registration, insurance, and billing/coding.
