I was working on the role of macrophage cell death in vascular patho-physiology under the influence of Oxidized phospholipids/OxLDL. • Investigation of Cytotoxic effects of Oxidized phospholipids in vascular cells and the role of Ceramide/Ceramide synthases in vascular pathophysiology (Results are published in PLOS ONE (2013), 8(7): e70002).• Analysis of cell viability and apoptotic death of murine macrophage cells under the influence of Oxidized phospholipids.• Investigating the effect of Oxidized phospholipids on the generation of lipid messenger Ceramide at the molecular level.• Expression analysis of Ceramide synthases by RNA and protein levels in murine macrophages.• Standardization of activities of sphingolipid metabolizing enzymes using both radio labeled and fluorescence labeled substrates.• Characterization of Ceramide synthase and sphingomyelinase activities under the influence of Oxidized phospholipids and specific enzyme inhibitors.
