About Lingxiao Chen

My name is Lingxiao Chen. I am a current PhD candidate researcher with 5+ years of experience in the pre-clinical trials using small animal model and patient-derived cell line to identify therapeutic efficacy of candidate treatments.My research centers on testing candidate interventions and assessing therapeutic outcome for rare disease, with a focus on preventing chronic liver disease progression in peroxisome disorders (PBD-ZSD). I have experience in coordinating multiple projects, training students/employees on laboratory practices, and collaborating with pharmaceutical company on pre-clinical studies.I am passionate about research and development (R&D) using cell-based assay and animal models to discover potential therapeutic strategies for patients to improve their quality of life.*My PhD thesis is currently under review, with expected graduation in Oct 2024.You can reach me by email: lingxiao.chen@mail.mcgill.ca

    My research involved testing candidate drugs for peroxisome biogenesis disorders (PBD-ZSD). I characterized the in-depth natural history of liver disease progression using the PEX1-G844D mouse model, and investigated the underlying pathophysiology in this model. I conducted the short-term efficacy study for three therapeutic interventions on patient-derived cell line and in mouse model in collaboration with pharmaceutical company. These projects required me to seek and form collaborations with international and local experts in the required techniques.
