Working on international student experience project

Award: Top 3 Intern of the yearI am doing a summer internship for The National Institute of Health Research’s School for Public Health Research. I undertake tasks such as assisting in the preparation and analysis of data, conducting a literature review and/or assisting with writing up the results of research conducted in the Centre for Public Health (CPH), at the University of Bristol.The project I am working on is:What self-harm and suicide prevention and postvention guidance currently exists in the UK for education and youth organisations, and for statutory and third sector organisations that provide support? I support the production of a scoping review, leading on searching for self-harm/suicide/youth mental health charities, and the documents and guidance they have produced for organisations working with young people in relation to self-harm and suicide.

Supporting One Bristol Curriculum (OBC) programme.

➢ Learning bartending knowledge and using tilt systems quickly from complete beginner (work independently and take full responsibilities on the second shift).➢ Commitment to providing high quality services under intense and high-pressure working environment.➢ Educate customers as relevant to their taste preferences and needs on shots and cocktails.

Assisting with the delivery of open days and post-offer visit days for the School of EdcuationDiscussing the BSc Psychology in Education course with prospective students and parentsAnswering questions and following up enquiries

➢ Contributing 210 hours of 1 to 2 teaching practice with juniors and 78% students (21 out of 27) provide positive feedback (through the form of thank you note).➢ Coordinating with activity leaders and polish coordinators to deliver educational activities.➢ Improving the engagement of students in and out of speaking sessions by using feedback form to address individual academic and emotional needs.➢ Maintaining complete and accurate records of student progress through online collaborative documents.

➢ Supporting colleagues and working as a part of a fast-moving team especially during peak dinning period.➢ Handling customer complaints and meet their needs flexibly (e.g. offering coupons or alternative options) before seeking for the manager.

➢ Meeting time-critical schedules and designing individual schedules depends on their progress.➢ Meeting the time-critical schedules of 20+ students and designing individual learning progressions depends on their ability.➢ Assisting students to memorise vocabularies (spent 13% less time memorizing words and improved their accuracy rate by 29%).➢ Leading a team of four teaching assistants and delegating work to colleagues.
