As a BrainStation software engineering graduate with a background in chemistry and project management, I have a strong foundation in logic-based thinking, cross-collaboration, and programming. At heart, I am also artistically and creatively inclined, having started my own illustration business prior to my project management role.During my 12-week fully immersive bootcamp at BrainStation, I started out with building multi-page static websites with the use of HTML, CSS, Sass, and BEM. Then, I transitioned to building single-page applications with the addition of React, Javascript, Web APIs and NPM libraries.Though I had originally expected to enjoy front-end development more, I just as equally enjoyed the organized and methodical aspect of building REST API servers with Node and Express as well as constructing relational databases through MySQL and Knex. I also gained valuable experience with paired-programming, GitFlow and agile methodologies through collaborating with my peers in several hackathons and group projects along the way.Looking back, I believe my calling to software engineering originated from a young age as I have always had a passion for creating and loved witnessing the culmination of my efforts in the end product. Thus, after obtaining my Bachelor's degree in chemistry, I challenged myself to pursue a career in art. While it was a truly invaluable opportunity in learning how to manage my small business, collaborate with manufacturers and other artists, and provide clients with exceptional service and high quality work, the burnout eventually caught up to me.Having left no stone unturned, I was excited to next join an environmental laboratory which allowed me to strengthen my analytical reasoning, work cross-functionally, and discover a newfound inclination for problem solving. Furthermore, I had the pleasure of working closely with a software engineer in the development of an automation program which sparked a curiosity regarding the fundamentals, capabilities and limitations of such a program.Inching closer with each learning experience, I have ultimately arrived in the world of software development, an amazing career to blend the creativity fostered through my personal interests with the technical mindset I have cultivated through my education and professional experience. This journey has resulted in various transferrable skills and insights that I apply as a developer. I am seeking roles in web development so if you or anyone you know is looking for a developer, please reach out!Check out my GitHub: github.com/linhpham4
