With over 22 years of volunteer and part-time paid experience at the West Yadkin Vol. Fire Department, I started with no initial fire or medical training. I have acquired certifications from Firefighter 2, Fire Officer 2, Fire Instructor 2, Paramedic, and Paramedic Instructor. Currently holding the rank of Deputy Chief, I work closely with the Chief and serve as the primary grant writer for the department. Additionally, with 16 years of service with the Yadkin County Rescue Squad, I have obtained multiple state rescue certifications. My membership in these two departments and my prior career department, Forsyth County Emergency Services, have significantly contributed to my growth in emergency services and administration.As an instructor at Surry Community College, teaching courses ranging from CPR to Paramedic certification, I have reinforced my medical training and further honed my teamwork, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Maintaining compassion toward others allows me to uphold the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
