Software architect and technical lead for the Xerox ColorQube 9200/9300 series solid ink color print engine (500,000+ LOC). Primary designer and developer of the object oriented C++ print engine application framework. This common framework has been shared across multiple successful products. Developed requirements, designed, and implemented the print process control software. Used as a consultant by peers to help develop SW designs. Innovations on this project included HW Simulation, data logging to database, and automated nightly regression testing.Developed print engine load simulation utilizing Xenomai based real-time Linux. Performed tests and measurements and documented the real-time capabilities of Linux.Lead software engineer for the initial prototype of the Xerox Phaser 8400 print engine. Coordinated the efforts of 7 engineers to develop the first functional prototype. Developed key software architecture concepts and libraries used to successfully bring the printer online. Responsible for the print process development that coordinates 3 axes of motion to move media through the printer, image the drum, transfix the image, and exit the media from the printer.

Designed and developed real-time embedded control software for solid ink printers.Responsible for developing USB, IDE, IIC, Ethernet, Serial, and Parallel communications device drivers that were used on several different printer platforms. This project included working with the ASIC designers to define the hardware register interface, designing, implementing, and testing the device drivers. Developed the VxWorks board support package (BSP) software for several main boards based on the PowerPC architecture.

Portland, Oregon Area

Designed and implemented the embedded laser/servo control application for the 9300 Memory Repair System. Primary responsibilities were the design, implementation, and testing of the thread control, error handling, hardware interface, position control interfaces, and LynxOS device drivers. Responsible for the integration and testing of the completed application. Used OO design principles and C++ for this application which was hosted on a VME based Power PC running LynxOS.Designed, developed, and tested the Link Inspection Option of the 9200 Memory Repair System as software technical lead for the project. Responsibilities included the development of the user interface, calibration, and control software for the inspection microscope and moving stages. Used UIM/X GUI builder and C to implement this software on a HP9000 running HP/UX.

Seattle

Analyzed, designed, and implemented the Mechanical Labs Data Acquisition and Control system. Responsibilities included the initial software architecture design as well as the implementation of the ADC server, acquisition manager, data saver, real-time strip chart, real-time tabular display, and Motif help utility. This was a large project involving eight engineers over a two year period. Used XDesigner GUI builder, C, and 68040 assembly to implement this software on a Concurrent 7500 multiprocessor running real-time Unix. Designed and implemented three other data acquisition and control systems while at Boeing. Was the sole developer on these projects and worked from requirements definition through to project completion. All projects were well accepted by customers.
