I set up my own consultancy and promotion firm in 2012. For the last 9 plus years, I was engaged in undertaking various consultancy assignments from government organizations, international public organizations, and the private sector. Overall, I have completed over 16 different projects.

My task is to leverage existing institutional and personal networks to create a high level of awareness about the challenges of sustainability of water resources for the private sector. In line with the mandate of the 2030 WRG, I am tasked with spearheading and providing technical support to design collective projects and to try to raise funding to bring about the maximal impact on water sustainability and to develop issues for advocacy to influence the policy arena in the interest of promoting water security for businesses. After a 2+year incessant effort and pro-active work, I have successfully spearheaded a collective effort to establish the Ethiopian Beverage Alliance for Water (EBAW) on August 26, 2021.

The 2030 WRG aims to contribute to the coordinated effort to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals of ending extreme poverty , growing strong, inclusive, and transformative economies, and protecting our ecosystems. Its mission is to help countries achieve water security by 2020 by facilitating collective action on water between government, private sector and the civil society.

I am one of seven trustees appointed by the High Court of Arada to administer the business and property of EFFORT companies which are over 15 in number, on the proposal of the Ministry of Finance and Federal Attorney General subsequent to the partial destruction and stalling of the functioning of these companies because of the conflict in Tigray.

I was involved in giving advice and carrying out technical tasks as a senior public procurement consultant to Expertise France, on a project financed by the Agence Francais De Developpment in relation to the ‘Restoration and Opening to the Public of the Grand National Palace.'

Blackbee is a multi-sectoral investment group that would use different investment modalities to promote economic development in Tigray/Ethiopia. The Diaspora in the USA (chiefly), over 350 of them, mobilized finance to set up the company. In collaboration with the regional govt of Tigray, the Diaspora tried to identify projects and unleased different studies while at the same time trying to identify project sites. I was appointed as the CEO entrusted with the heavy-duty of instilling energy to the budding company, raising capital from domestic investors, and laying the institution on a firm footing. I was passionately involved in the tasks bestowed upon me and started to show good results when unfortunately war broke out in Tigray and the regional govt fell apart; hence, my resignation.

Since I was the founder of the ECGI, I happily took the responsibility. I undertook all the work necessary to help them re-establish and, almost single-handedly, helped them achieve their legal status by processing their registration as a private sector civil society, dealing with corporate governance issues. They recognized my service in public by lauding me as a benefactor of society. I was hired by the World Bank to work as a coordinator and technical expert to give capacity support to the city government of Addis Ababa to enhance the competitiveness of the city and bolster its means to create jobs. From international experience of 500 cities in the world, the WB Urban, Rural, Social and Resilience Global Practice designed a city competitiveness project for four cities in Africa out of which one was Addis Ababa. In addition to helping city executives develop an awareness of competitiveness, there were also about six quick research studies to help identify bottlenecks of investment, tease out strong competitive areas for the city, and job multiplier of various jobs in the city among others. In the project, we also worked to create appreciation in the city executives in the area of improving doing business ranking of the country, for which the Addis Ababa administration could have a distinct contribution. We focused on construction permits and registering property to help the nation score significant points in the doing business index.

Ethiopian Re was established on Birr 500 million+ capital by insurance companies and banks. It is the first Ethiopian reinsurance company. Two other colleagues and I were recruited by the insurance industry association to embark on establishing the company as consultants and advisors, which we carried out successfully. We prepared 22 manuals amongst ourselves in addition to other tasks necessary for formation of a company.

I worked with the Ministry of Finance as a member of a team of international experts to provide local sharing on the legal system in Ethiopia. The objective was to draw up a policy for PPP that would underpin a legal bill. Both policy and bill were issued a year later. I was chiefly involved in translating national documents into Amharic, taking minutes for the int'l experts, and giving details of laws in the country in different fields.

I facilitate dialogue on policy matters between the government and the private sector. In particular, I carry out the following tasks: Tease out issues of the private sector to be presented to a consultative forum Prepare position paper for presentation to consultative forum Facilitate validation of position of paper within the business community Organize consultative fora Follow up implementation of agreed points reached during a forum with the government Monitor impact of regulatory changes in the investment climate

I managed the Chamber and promoted business and investment, facilitated business networking and capacity building of members.
