Link Elmore is a Restoring ecological and economic vitality to previously mined lands and Appalachian communities. at The Nature Conservancy. He possess expertise in gis, spatial analysis, geography, spatial databases, arcgis and 24 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I am writing to support Link Elmore in his application as a GIS specialist. I have known Link for a number of years now as he is a graduate student in our department, he has taken several of my classes, and I am on his graduate thesis committee.
I can state emphatically that Link is a strong student, with a bright and, especially significant these days, very inquiring mind. Link is always interested in more than just the material with which he is presented in a course or an article he has read. When he works in modeling in GIS, he wants to know why something is true, what alternatives are possible and how to best accomplish a GIS task. If he sees advantages to alternative solutions, but is not certain which techniques to apply, he will attempt more than one possible solution prior to deciding how to complete the task, choosing that approach that that is most appropriate. In my recent Advanced Spatial Analysis course, Link was the leader of the class in the quality of his project work on every single project. He also ran ahead of the class in the quality of his presentations to me and to the class.
Link’s MS research is on development of a decision support system incorporating uncertainty to assist land preservation efforts in the Southwest Virginia Region. Link is dedicated to his home “turf” and wants to see enacted those preservation alternatives that make the most impact. His GIS-based spatial decision support system will greatly assist managers in determine the most fruitful ways to spend limited resources by comparing the benefits of available options for preservation.
Link also has a great deal of experience in the field through his assistantship during the 2010-2011 academic year with the Center for Geospatial Information Technology at Virginia Tech.
So in short, I highly recommend Link for any work with Geographic Information Systems, spatial analysis, and spatial modeling projects. He is dedicated, sincerely interested and a very innovative graduate from Virginia Tech." and "Link was a former student in our Master's Degree program, we felt fortunate to have someone in the Abingdon area who understood our program and who had been such a good student. He has proven to be a valuable ally in starting up a new program. He has supervised himself and has been creative in finding ways to connect with potential students for our program. He follows through, attends to details, takes risks and all round did an great job for us. I would be glad to recommend him to anyone he was interested in working for."
