🎤 Presenter At 'What Do You Know' Sydney 2015Web Directions Sep 2015 - Sep 2015I was a Presenter at the September 2015 edition of the long running 'What Do You Know Sydney' event.'What Do You Know' is a '... round of sensational 5 minute presentations from established as well as up-and-coming presenters, all vying for a place on the Web Directions 2015 stage.'The topic I presented 'Dialogue Design' emphasized the parallels there are between traditional software code debugging and argument-with-a-person debugging. Many a times, the best thing you can do to fumble your way towards that compromise and resolution with the other person is to remind yourself to hit that Ctrl+C, take a breath, and go back to the src. Although to many developers, that routine is second nature when troubleshooting errors, why isn't it the first thing we try when the object of our frustration isn't an executable but a fellow human of the earth. In 5 minutes or less, my talk was a humorous reminder to the techies to stop talking one-sidedly so much for once, ask 'why' one more time, and start listening for real.See more at https://www.webdirections.org/what-do-you-know-sydney-september-2015/
