Profile bio

About Linsay Bryan

I am a Provisional Psychologist seeking employment as part of the internship year of the 5+1 program. I am currently completing the placement component of the 12-month Masters of Professional Psychology degree with the University of Tasmania, and will likely graduate in April 2016. I am on placement at three different organisations, which is allowing me to gain a wide variety of assessment and therapeutic skills throughout the life span. For example, I have performed, scored and written reports for assessments including the WAIS-IV, WISC-IV, WAIT, WPPSY, Vineland-II, as well as initial assessments and a functional behavioural assessment. I have also undertaken therapy with clients ranging 15-55 years, primarily focussing on CBT techniques and incorporating ACT and Mindfulness. I participate in regular supervision (individual and group), clinical meetings and professional development activities. I am also attending a 10week Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy group course with Miranda Stephens.I have many years in relevant positions including Child Protection Caseworker, Mental Health Recovery Worker, Postvention Suicide Response Worker and Disability Support Worker. I have also worked full-time on the family dairy farm for two years, which is important life experience when working with people in rural and farming communities.I was raised in a farming family from a rural area and am aware of the disadvantages country people face. The limited availability of services and resources, social and geographical isolation, and the strong stigma associated with mental health issues are particularly challenging. In summary, I recognise that it is beneficial to gain a wide range of experience and knowledge when working in rural areas, therefore I am willing to consider any area of work that may be available to me as a Provisional Psychologist. I am very willing to accept a part-time position, and will consider areas within approximately 50kms from Ulverstone, Tasmania.
