Technical Expert for this project in the water, energy and climate change nexus, supported by the Covenant of Mayors in sub-Saharan Africa (CoM SSA). The project involves assisting Burkina Faso's water utility, ONEA, on behalf of CoM SSA, to convert their fossil-fuel fired energy source to renewable energy by carrying out the project preparation and sourcing finance for the proposed solutions at ten sites across the country. Working closely with ONEA, the technical expert from GOPA and the Burkina Faso GIZ team, the mandate includes preparing the Concept Note to be shared with Technical and Financial Partners (TFPs), engaging with TFPs and other stakeholders, contributing to the advanced prefeasibility study preparation and final documentation the Burkina Faso government will use to source financing and preparing the scale-up strategy.

Built internal capacity to coordinate and deliver the outcomes sought on complex regional infrastructure projects, including development corridors, transport, energy and water projects, also considering the impacts of climate change. Led initiatives for high level infrastructure master planning for private client in Gabon and for the Government of South Sudan, and collaborated with the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency to plan for implementation of the US$68bn Priority Action Plan of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA). Set up and led cross disciplinary teams to address DFI funded infrastructure needs in Malawi and Mozambique as well as for PIDA.

This suite of assessments involved evaluating the optimal service delivery mechanism for electricity distribution, bus transport, solid waste management and asphalt production and paving for a number of municipalities in South AfricaProject Director for Development of Bank Strategy on Required Safeguards for Financing Mining and Utilisation of Coal in Power Generation – Development of Workable AfDB EIA Standards for New Coal-Fired Power Plant. Led a team of experts in environmental management, power generation, emissions trading and Carbon Capture and Storage to fast-track the development of Environmental Impact Assessment standards with a focus on air quality and carbon emissions trading mechanisms to enable the Bank to unlock decisions regarding investment in several proposed coal-fired power stations in Africa.
