When I grew up, I wanted to be a typist and marry John Travolta. At age eight, it made sense that my passion for clacking out ghost stories and cringy odes to myself on my grandfather’s old IBM typewriter and repeatedly watching Grease would lead me to this golden future. As you can imagine, John Travolta never materialized and my zeal for typing waned. My sister’s relentless teasing encouraged me to give up the self-aggrandizing odes, but I kept writing, moving on to questionable fan fiction and angsty short stories, graduating to strong and strengthening essays, novels, and screenplays. Over the years, my tastes and ambitions evolved, but my love for writing remains immutable. For the last fifteen years, I’ve worked as a writer and editor, helping individuals and companies create effective professional and creative materials. As content writer and editor, I’ve produced and edited educational guides, e-Learning programs, brochures, advertisements, newsletters, fiction, nonfiction, screenplays, reviews, and proposals. I enjoy helping my clients produce exemplary content that satisfies their needs and goals. Outside of work I spend much of my free time shuttling my son to school and activities, but I do manage to read often. I always have a stack of books on my bedside table and at least one stashed in my car. I just finished a biography on Winston Churchill and next in line is some horror fiction. I still love ghost stories, and I’m in the process of writing one that will hopefully outshine the ones I used to clack out on the typewriter.
