As a port officer in the port of Gothenburg, you are the port of Gothenburg’srepresentative in the energy harbor. You mainly work with planning andsafety regarding ship calls and the product to be handled.As a port officer you work in shifts and have constant contact with all theport’s various actors and ensure rules and correct procedures are followed.You also work with fire, spill and accident prevention. By among otherthings, providing the emergency services with local knowledge, as well asmaneuvering the port’s fire and spill mitigation systems.

During the employment, I thenreceived additional training and duties, in e.g. driving loaders, containertrucks. In addition, I performed various jobs in the harbor as a“fixer/mechanic”.Forwarding: After a couple of years I got the opportunity to work at thecompany’s forwarding department. This work included directing trucks,forklifts and planning of warehouse spaces. I also worked within thewarehouse system “Ongoing”, with products and orders.Edvin Svensons Skeppsmäkleri (agency): After starting my studies, I gotmore administrative tasks. In the summer of 2018, I first worked as a shipagent. When the regular staff then went on vacation, I also supported thestevedore & warehouse management, as well as drove machines myselfwhen needed.As a ship agent, I boarded the ships, welcomed and assisted them withdocuments and service. I added up costs for the calls, informed the involvedparties about cargo handling, ordered pilots and reported mandatoryinformation about ship & cargo to authorities using MSW.

Packaging and order handling, also office work with the company’sproduct- & order system. Worked during summers and other holidays.
