Since joining Red Hat I have been working with Containers (Docker and others), Kubernetes (as well as OpenShift), Python and Ansible. I help advise clients on best practices and devise innovative solutions to the challenges I encounter.I am an Open Source first advocate, I care about the community and building relationships and often act as a liaison for the companies I consult with.

As a professional who runs their own business, I provide open source based solutions. Most recently, I moved a client away from a Windows SBS 2003 server to RHEL 6. This server provides files, supports Quickbooks and is responsible for all of the corporate backups. I paired this with a CentOS machine as a secondary machine for OnSite backups. This solution, backed by KVM, provides vital services which have improved uptime by an estimated 40%. Support calls have dropped dramatically as a result of favouring open source solutions over Microsoft based ones.

Autodata is a software and data provider. They create applications (Apache/Tomcat) which ingestvarious data for the auto industry and present that to the user in a meaningful way. As part of my role, I am responsible for identifying problems with the workflow(s)/pipeline(s) and then designing a better solution. As part of my role, I redesigned how deployments were accomplished. I consolidated all of thedeployment scripts into a single python based script (with multiple classes). This allowed for a unifiedapproach, which reduced errors by 95% and the number of steps (and therefore time for deployments) were reduced drastically.Other key contributions:• Python scripting to assist DBA tasks• Python program to create inventory of deployed software• Apache/Tomcat pipeline improvements• Onboarding and training of junior team members• Redesign of application logging• Implemented version control system for scripts and other programs• Designed, planned and implemented hardware and software refreshes for major clients in remotedatacentres

Strategic Information Technology is a software development company which provides software anddatabase services to the banking sector. I was responsible for supporting the internal Development Team as well as the Installation Team. When I started work at SIT none of their servers were being updated and no forward planning wasbeing done in terms of testing the database and software on new OS releases. I converted the existing infrastructure to a combination of Red Hat 6 and CentOS 6. As part of this migration, I designed and implemented a failover solution for the main database servers using Corosync and Linux-HA.In order to stream line disaster recovery efforts, I forked Anaconda in order to create a one clickemergency installation DVD. This was accomplished by creating custom hooks in the installer which would generate a dynamic kickstart file which allowed SIT flexible hardware requirements. This included a writing a custom installer in python for the Progress Database.Other key contributions:• Implemented the integration of Active Directory (2008) with Red Hat Directory Services• Reduced overall internet bandwidth required by creating local repositories and implementing Squid Proxy Server. These initiatives reduced bandwidth costs by significant amount• Planned and implemented the purchase and redesign of the Virtual Machine infrastructure• Wrote a python based installer for SIT's database application• Wrote a network scanner (using python and nmap) which dynamically tracks devices on thenetwork and stores the information in a MySQL database• Implemented version control system for scripts and other programs
