About Lisa Comstock

Working in a non-profit can often give one the opportunity to wear many hats. I've had that luxury in my long career with Connecticut Humanities. A few of the titles held and responsibilities they imply are below:• Assistant to the Director• Office Manager• Director of Family Read Connecticut• Manager of Administrative ServicesNot a lot is included in these titles, of course, because they are just titles. They don't really get into the nuts and bolts of day-to-day operations, such as: ITS management, web development, brochure and newsletter design and layout, event management, facilities management, presentations, and public relations. I've done all of these, and a lot more.I believe there is an enormous benefit to wearing so many hats: you can't get bored with your job, you must learn something new all the time, and it makes you agile in your thinking.

Consequently a lot of start-up was necessary at the outset of this program which included:• Strategic planning• Research into potential sites where program could be implemented• Recruitment of stakeholders• Outreach and presentation to those stakeholders• Presentations and recruitment of institute participants • Setting up training institutes to turn out program facilitators• Providing support to facilitators• Communication, follow-up and evaluation of facilitators• Workshops, seminars and networking opportunities for facilitators
