Need help managing technical debt? Transitioning products from development to the manufacturing floor is fast-paced and often moves forward with calculated risks. With several years of experience in assay development and 7 years as a six sigma master black belt, my skill set gives me confidence that technical problems in manufacturing – whether they be special cause or “unpaid” technical debt- are solvable with an engaged interdisciplinary team. I currently mentor technical teams through the 8D problem solving process in wide variety of areas: reagent manufacture and optimization for POC devices, ELISA, PCR, slide technology, and hematology; assay optimization and calibration, and OEMs that manufacture consumables for our products. I have a special passion for working with our development scientists to help strengthen their design for six sigma (DFSS) tools. With these teams, I mentor as they identify CTQs, develop and characterize the measurement systems used to monitor CTQs, and assist them in characterizing the design space or process window using modern design of experiments (DOE) methodologies.
