As a Panel I sit with another member of the Community and decide what to include in a young person's Referral Order by firstly reading the reports prepared by the Youth Offending Service (YOS). Then we go on to meet with the young person and ask them a series of questions to ascertain why the offence was committed and to then include a list of objectives in their Referral Order in the hope that they do not reoffend.

My responsibilities include drafting tenancy agreements, advertising for new and prospective tenants, actively managing a portfolio of properties and having a solid understanding of landlord and tenant law. I recently completed an NVQ in Mediation and worked for a period of time at Cambridge District Mediation service (CDCMS). CDCMS dealt primarily with boundary/landlord and tenant disputes. Having the relevant qualification and experience in community mediation has given me a more in depth and empathetic understanding of the property industry as a whole.

Bar Professional Training Course. I'm a member of Honourable Society of the Inner Temple and its Debating Society. Specific practical experience includes doing a mini-pupillage with Fenners Chambers in Cambridge. Once qualified I hope to specialise in the areas of Criminal/Landlord and Tenant/Family Law.

I work primarily with witnesses both in the Magistrate Court (including Youth Court) and more recently Crown Court. Duties include supporting witnesses, explaining the court process and familiarising them with the Court by organising and conducting Court Visits.

Reception work included making appointments, liaising with members of the public and promoting the Charity. I then went onto Gateway Assessing, this was a very pressured environment. The role in essence required good time management skills in that we had approximately 10 minutes to interview a client. Within that 10 minutes find out exactly what the client needed help with and from there plan a course of action e.g. to sign post etc or to make another appointment for thorough legal advise with a Legal Advisor.

I had the opportunity to live in South East Asia for approximately three years and taught English in the Cameron Highlands, Malaysia.
