• Work with various company departments on events strategy and planning to ensure that events support the company’s objectives of generating new business• Sponsorship solicitation, in-kind solicitation, attendance, program development, research, coordinating marketing and advertisements; events promotion and execution, events logistics and follow-up• Prepare reports on revenues and expenditures (P&L statements) to ensure cost effective programs, along with post events evaluation data and events budget development and reconciliation with accounting department• Hosted such speakers as Former President Bill Clinton, Maya Angelou, Christopher Gardner, John Legend, Elizabeth Edwards, Jenny McCarthy and others. Several of these events were sell-outs, filling houses of up to 2,100 seats. All of these events saw much press coverage and helped Metro Parent and BLAC magazines develop a reputation as “the” producer for must-see events in metro Detroit.• Designed an event called “Living With Autism” that in the four years made a large impact in the lives of families with autistic children This event brought in a yearly average revenue of over $60,000 and a profit of approximately $35,000.• Received over $2 million in funding from grant proposals written.• Sold over $30,000 in sponsorships for Metro Parent Magazine and BLAC magazine events each year. In addition, secured approximately $20,000 in in-kind donations each year.• Managed a department budget of over $500,000. Was successful at cutting expanses and increasing profit.
