Supervised both the volatile and semi-volatile organic deparments of an environmental contract laboratory. Responsible for ensuring the daily operations of the organic department were performed in compliance with standard operation procedures and necessary regulatory agency guidelines. Responsible for reviewing data and ensuring staff members were compliant with necessary regulations. Responsible for ensuring that the annual instrument updates were performed and entered all necessary updates and quality control limits into the laboratory informations system (LIMS). Assisted the IT Manager with the programming of the LIMS to perform electronic data capture of all data transferred, thus eliminating errors and increasing efficiency. Responsible for the initiation and implementation of four additional assays not formerly performed in the lab and acquired Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for : Pesticide/PCBs, 8270 Semi-Volatiles, Phenols and Volatile Safe Drinking Water analyses. Responsible for the instrument repair and training for : Varian and Hewlett Packard Gas Chromatographs with various detectors including: Electolytic Conductivity (ECD), Flame Ionization (FID), Photo Ionization (PID) and Mass Spectroscopy (MS). Repaired Hewlett Packard and Shimadzu HPLCs, as well as Tekmar LCS 2000 concentrators, Archon and Dynatech autosamples, and SRI portable GCs. Initiated and implemented the purchase and installation of E-Z Chromatography software, and trained staff in its use.
