The Ivey, Charlotte’s top memory wellness day center, provides its treasured members a full day of enriching activities and certified healthcare, and I take pride in keeping our clients healthy and safe while supporting their families with the utmost compassion and clinical expertise. Over the years, I have become an expert in dementia care. I came to nursing after 20 years in the corporate world and have now been a nurse for more than a decade. Caregiving has always come naturally to me, having served as my mother’s primary support for 12 years during her struggle with mental illness. After traveling a similar path, I can help guide and advise families who care for someone with the complex and often misunderstood disease of dementia.My greatest success story is that I’ve found the perfect job to match my personality and skill set. I love coming to work and take great satisfaction in my ability to prevent further health complications by detecting issues which often go unrecognized in the elderly population: heart arrhythmias, bronchitis and urinary tract infections. Knowing when members may need a new level of support (like palliative or hospice care) is a specialty of mine and I am patient and forthright when discussing end-of-life issues.The families I serve appreciate my empathy, medical expertise and strong communication skills.
