As part of the Ipswich CBD Nicholas Street Precinct, the Children's Library sits alongside the new CBD Library and outdoor spaces designed to be a destination for Ipswich residents and visitors. Leading the Western Downs Libraries team, which included nine library branches and a comprehensive online shopfront, required innovation, proficient change management, collaborative team culture-building and a strategic eye to the future. Responsibility for the strategic direction of the Library Service was an exciting role in an exciting and changing industry and it offered the opportunity to make a real difference. Policy, budgeting, staff development, strategic partnering, advocacy, representation, a focus on great customer experience and data-driven collection best-practice were all part of the dynamic and varied role.
