Meeting were held regularly with the manager to discuss and evaluate the running of the club and improvements are analysed during these meetings. This position has allowed me to be more involved in the management of staff and the club and has provided me with invaluable experience which has developed my organisation skills and has led me to complete my SVQ Level 4 in Play Work.A significant project within the SVQ level 4 was the development of an Operational Plan for the After School Club. This was successful and led to many developments in various areas, including the introduction of new policies. Feedback from users, parents/carers, staff and the school has been very positive and partnership working between the school and the club has been enhanced through our ‘eco-friendly’ development. I was actively involved in the interview process in this setting which has given me invaluable experience in interview techniques. My post as a Play worker included the supervision of Primary children at the After School Club during term time and school holidays. This included organisation of games, sports, arts & crafts activities as well as visits and outings. Effective communication with parents and colleagues and support of children with additional support needs was required. This position also required first aid skills and understanding of child protection issues.
