I am working on measuring the vegetable crops that never reach the US food supply. So many crops are left unharvested, usually because the price does not support the labor necessary to harvest. We often hear the statistic that 40% of our food supply is wasted. That figure does not include crops that are unmarketable for one reason or another. Additionally, I am trying to understand grower decision making that contributes to these losses and develop solutions, education, and prevention measures in order to solve this problem.
