I am current Acting Country Medical Lead since January 2017. This opportunity has allowed me to contribute to strategic thinking, using my extensive medical knowledge. In addition, I have written and delivered the neuroscience ITP. I have indepth knowledge of the NHS and private sector, having worked in the NHS for 26 years. My NHS experience included leading teams in; critical care, cystic fibrosis, oncology, haematology, HIV, general surgery, endocrinology and neurodisability. I have managed upwards of 75 nurses over 3 geographical areas. Whilst at Shire, I have had strategic input in 4 product launches, being instrumental in their success. As an Independent Prescribing Nurse...both adults and paediatrics...I see the importance of Clinical Nurse Specialists in all therapeutic areas. Leading a national group supporting nurses who work in the field of ADHD. I chaired the UK ADHD Nurse Network (UKANN) team, which included nurses from all geographical areas - including child, adolescent and adult services. We design and delivered an annual two day conference, which consistently evaluated as excellent....it became a much needed networking opportunity for those nurses who worked so hard to make the patients lives a little better. During this period, I was a KOL for 4 pharmaceutical companies. Between 2003 and 2011, I attended a vast amount of advisory boards, was part of brilliant projects, sat on a panel to choose the winner of a service evaluation presentation and presented at local and national conferences. I thoroughly enjoyed all the activities with industry...it has certainly shaped how I interact with KOLs and HCPs. Between 2002 and 2011 I ran 4 clinical trials...which gave me huge insights into how a drug is scientifically tested. I believe all these opportunities have shaped me into an effective, opinionated part of the medical team.

I sort of stumbled into the world of ADHD and was hooked. I began with a team of one and a caseload of about 50. I ran Nurse Led clinics, performed covert classroom observations, delivered behavioural interventions which I designed myself. Eventually, I completed my Independent Nurse Prescribing in 2006...as soon as I was allowed to prescribe controlled drugs. It was the most jumping through hoops qualification I ever did, but it changed my career exponentially. I set up my own Nurse Led service ...I could assess, diagnose and treat, without supervision. I had the ability to change the lives of children, their families and friends. It was ultra rewarding....and exhausting, hence the career change.
