Compliance and Risk Manager (2008 to date)Being a Key Individual and manager, requires of me to be fully updated in all aspects of FAIS and other Legislations relating to the financial industry. I work closely with the FSB, various Ombudsman’s offices, legal representatives and compliance officers. Managing various portfolios profitably, requires close interaction with various insurers, product developers, suppliers, panel beaters and different assessing companies. I am actively involved in portfolio management and discussions regarding underwriting adjustments, Insurer requirements and managing the general, good health of a fast growing short term portfolio.Underwriting Manager (2003 – 2007)I was responsible for managing and overseeing all underwriters in maintaining clients’ portfolios. My duties also required approval of underwriting and approving risks within the company’s mandate, collecting outstanding premiums, attending to cancellation requests and the retention thereof, resolving client and staff complaints. My responsibilities included in-house training and product development to all departments in the company. (Underwriting, Claims and Marketing departments)Claims Manager (1995 – 2002)Starting off as a claims technician my duties include assisting clients with submitting claim forms, registering of claims, appointments of assessors and daily following up on the progress of claims. As claims manager I interacted closely with assessors. Panel beater, suppliers and insurance companies. I also dealt with all rejected claims, appeals to insurer and Ombudsman’s complaints and assisted clients with general claims complaints.
