I began my federal career in 1991 as a Presidential Management Intern after graduating wth an MPA from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. In 1995 I started my career at the US Environmental Protection Agency. I began in the Waste Management Division in Region 9 (San Francisco) as a Project Officer for the Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA) grant to the state of Nevada. Over the next 10 years I worked on a precedent-setting enforcement case, on a very successful Voluntary Mercury Emission Reduction program with Nevada goldmining operations, and also worked on numerous mercury related projects as Region 9's Mercury Coordinator, including launching what is now an international mercury reduction partnership with UNEP to reduce mercury pollution from gold shops in the Brazilian Amazon. I moved into strategic planning my last 2 years in Region 9. Since 2011, I have served as a public affairs specialist/media officer in EPA's Region 8 - Denver office. I work primarily on Water communications. In my spare time, I'm involved in my neighborhood organization: West Colfax Association of Neighbors. I was on the land use committee and led the Shrink our Footprint team in our efforts to become a certified Sustainable Neighborhood - a program run by Denver. I also practice Tai Chi through the International Taoist Tai Chi Society.
