Innovation at Scale - Major Maintenance Outage (Turnaround) Metric Improvement Project• Substantial gain in Productivity over plan, through disruptive innovation at scale. Built WIFI across the mine and integrated RFID tracking technology for contractors and equipment. Allowed execution leadership to visualize process issues and make real time decisions.• As a Commercial innovator, sought out the cutting edge technology and created the business plan through collaboration with Operations. As the project manager, delivered on budget and met business objectives. First project of this nature in Heavy Oil in northern Alberta. • Accelerated implementation meant timeline from kickoff to live test was just 90 days, which included design and build of the site-wide wireless mesh, data collection and analytics systems, and a command and control centre. The plan also included a massive stakeholder engagement campaign externally with unions and media, and internally with groups such as legal, IT and Operations.• Initiated Industry collaboration agreement around the technical solution. Brokered multiple meetings between Shell and a competitor's leadership teams to foster real cooperation to drive the technical solution to improved outcomes and lower risks for both corporations.• Provided leadership through conflict management and wavering buy-in, as innovation will produce uncertainty, and attacked every blockade to find alternative solutions to bring in a successful final outcome.Strategic Game Changer - Cost of Water • Recognized that management of mining waters and related budget was important commercial lever and a more granular understanding of disparate water costs could improve water economic models. Worked collaboratively with Environmental Performance water lead to tap global resources to create a enriched mine map of water costs, including handling costs and toxicities.
