I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and have achieved the Qualified Arbitrator (Q.Arb.) designation from the ADR Institute of Canada. I am an arbitrator on the Arbitration Place, Vancouver International Arbitration Centre (VanIAC), and Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society (TCAS) rosters. I am the editor of Arbitration Matters (www.arbitrationmatters.com), which provides brief summaries of recent cases on arbitration issues, as they are released, from across Canada. I am also a partner of Lerners LLP in Toronto and bring to my role as arbitrator over 25 years of experience as litigation counsel with a broad range of expertise in business and contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, class actions, banking litigation, matters involving directors and officers liability, and accountant and auditor professional liability. I have experience in both domestic and international arbitrations (both ad hoc and under institutional rules) in disputes arising from contracts in a variety of sectors. I have always been an active participant in my firm and have been supported in various executive leadership roles, which has allowed me to develop strengths in decision making, business judgment, and conflict resolution. I am a former member of Lerners LLP’s Executive Committee (2007 to 2019) and served as the Toronto Office Co-Managing Partner (2008 to 2017) and Managing Partner (2018 to 2019). I am proud that I created the firm’s first Diversity and Inclusion Committee, whose members are both lawyers and staff working together to better our firm. As a result of these experiences, I am an effective business leader, executive, and board director who has the ability to see practical solutions in complex issues. I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Canada Branch), a current member of TCAS, and the former co-Chair of the TCAS Executive Committee. I am also a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Toronto Scout Foundation, which supports Scouts Canada – an organization that is near to my heart. I have received the Scouts Canada Medal for Good Service (2006) and the Women’s Executive Network Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award (2017). Currently, I am one of 5 principal instructors of the 2021/2022 TCAS Gold Standard Course in domestic and international commercial arbitration in Canada, the successful completion of which satisfies the requirements for the ADR Institute of Canada’s Q.Arb. designation.
