My day job was the smooth running of retail operations, managing work allocation (including resourcing and cover), workflow and systems. Each day, I ran one of three shifts, based in New York but covering all the major countries. The shift processed new and existing client documentation, deposits, withdrawals, transfers and queries. We operated in most major languages and a significant number of clients used English as a second language. I represented Retail on several company-wide projects, cascading policy and process changes and managing communications. I reduced average transaction handling time by 75% by replacing a physical ink stamp that attached a set of check boxes to each transaction to be filled in at different process stages, with an electronic version, thus eliminating all manual paper handling. I fulfilled a number of other roles in addition to my day-job, and also undertook an assignment:UK Operations Supervisor (assignment) 2005The new UK office was exclusively sales focused, and struggling to be efficient.
