I am currently navigating the world of municipal governments by serving as the Public Information Officer for the City of Texarkana, Texas. We are a growing metropolitan area of over 60,000 residents. We are a twin city, with two separate governments, two mayors and two city halls- but one heartbeat. Serving the residents and demands of one city with two municipalities can be challenging, but rewarding and awe-inspiring. My job encompasses public and community relations, communications, media and internal relations. I previously gained experience in non-profits, healthcare, and higher education through the scope of communications. In my Chamber work, I gained a wealth of experience managing budgets, people, relationships and working through city ordinances, renovating an aged downtown, and supporting over 300 businesses in a tough economic climate. I partnered with city officials, business owners, public servants, investors, developers and more to make the Atlanta Area a better place to live and work.At the Hospital Foundation I managed a board of eleven volunteers and $1 million annual budget, hosted four annual fundraisers and a donor base of longtime philanthropists. I am a free-lance writer for an established local lifestyle magazine. I enjoy blogging and volunteering. While at the chamber, I founded a 501 (c) 3, the Atlanta Area Young Professionals Network. The goal of this organization is to improve quality of life and make Atlanta an ideal place to raise a family. In the Spring of 2010, I finished up a master's degree in Public Service from the Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock, Arkansas. I have since taught public speaking and developmental writing at the community college in Texarkana and at the university. I earned a Certificate of Public Communication from Texas Christian University in 2016, and am currently seeking a Certificate of Economic Development from the International Economic Development Council.
