Ms. Secrest, CMAR, rLATG, has over 30 years of experience with laboratory animals. Before becoming a member of the Priority One staff in 2000 she was an active duty soldier and a contract employee at the National Cancer Institute. She has received multiple awards to include the AALAS George R. Collins Education and Training Award for outstanding contributions to the field of laboratory animal training and education, the LAMA William O. Umiker Memorial Award for excellence and the NCAB William Gay Award for outstanding achievement as a Lab Animal Trainer. She has successfully developed and maintained effective training programs on numerous sites throughout the country with a wide variety of laboratory animals. During her tenure, she has designed new programs to enhance the career development of Priority One personnel through AALAS certification training, the Leadership Training Program (LTP), Supervisor Base Camp (SBC), and other continuing educational opportunities that augment the skills of the laboratory staff. Lisa has served on multiple committees in various roles at the local and national level to include being a current member of the AALAS Board of Trustees and the board liaison to the Government Relations (GRC) committee. She is a 2005 graduate of the Institute of Laboratory Animal Management (ILAM) program and a current and active member of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), National Capital Area Branch (NCAB), South East AALAS Branch (SEAALAS), Research Triangle Branch (RTB), Northern Rocky Mountain Branch (NRMB), Metro New York Branch (MNY), Laboratory Animal Management Association (LAMA), and the Laboratory Animal Welfare Training Exchange (LAWTE).
