I have had the opportunity in my aviation career to work with some outstanding people. As a member of the safety committee at Comair airlines I was able to participate in discussions and activities at the local and national level on improving safety in the industry. This was rewarding and I learned a lot about new technologies and current issues. My background is Education, Communications, and Journalism. I actually enjoy public speaking. However, it is in my airline career where I gained teamwork, leadership, crew resource management and other transferrable skills. I have traveled all over the world as a volunteer, tourist, and for work. This has given me an appreciation for different people and cultures. In 2011 my company Comair Airlines offered early retirement and severance packages to eligible employees in order to mitigate furloughs. They have since ceased operation. Because of this in the summer of 2012, I was able to accomplish a long time dream to hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail. It stretches 2,668 miles from Mexico to Canada and took me five months to complete. Since then my career path has taken me into Office and Project Manager roles but remain active in general aviation. I found my way back to airline flying and once again am volunteering for our ALPA Central Air Safety Committee as Chief Accident Investigator and CIRP committee member. In April 2020 my airline shut down and I had the opportunity to join the FAA at my local Flight Standards District office.
