Hi! I am an Investigator at Bruyère Research Institute, which is affiliated with Bruyère Continuing Care (a sub-acute health care organization specializing in the care of the elderly and vulnerable - geriatric and stroke rehabilitation, palliative care, complex continuing care, long-term care, assisted living, memory care, primary health care etc.).My research is primarily in the use of technology for rehabilitation, particularly stroke and geriatric rehabilitation. Other areas of research are: the use of technology and the arts to improve quality of life in complex continuing care and long-term care, and the use of smart-home technology to enable people living with cognitive impairment to live in their homes. I incorporate my Physiotherapy background in all that I do.The technologies that I use include immersive and non-immersive virtual reality, activity trackers, and partial body-weight support walkers.I work with quantitative and qualitative data, and am involved in several implementation and knowledge translation studies.From one of my projects, I have spun out a company, Engram Innovations Inc., to commercialize a virtual companion for people living with dementia. www.engraminnovations.com I am also a Clinical Research Manager at Ottawa Heart Institute Research Corporation. In this role I coordinate the Bruyère site of the CanStim study, investigating the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation to enhance stroke recovery.
