About Lisa Smith Molinari
I cofounded The Orion Military Scholarship Fund, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing US boarding school opportunities to the children of active duty military families, so they can find stable, uninterrupted high school experiences. As Executive Director, I oversee Orion's Military Scholars Program and lead the organization in all day-to-day operations. As a Navy spouse and mother of three, I understand the impact of frequent moves on military children, and the challenges of finding stable educational opportunities.In "The Meat & Potatoes of Life" award-winning blog and print column, I serve up honest stories about the reality of marriage, parenting and military life. My weekly newspaper column is syndicated to military newspapers, primarily, Stars and Stripes, the newspaper for the US Armed Forces, along with other US military publications such as Norfolk Flagship, San Diego Military Dispatch, Pensacola Gosport, Mayport Mirror, Fort Benning Bayonet, Fort Bliss Monitor, Vance Scoop, Hawaii Army Weekly, and many more. In 2018, my column received national first place honors for print humor from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. My first book, "The Meat and Potatoes of Life: My True Lit Com" was published on May 1, 2020 and has won a Foreward Indies Gold Award for Humor, a Midwest Book Gold Award for Humor, a Military Writers' Society of America Gold Award for Humor, and an Independent Publisher's Ben Franklin Silver Award for Humor.My work has also appeared in The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, USA Today's Year In Defense, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette, The Providence Daily Journal, World Net Daily, Military Spouse Magazine, The Leaf-Chronicle, The Indiana Gazette, magazines and other publications.My essays have been included in several anthologies: Miracles and Moments of Grace: Inspiring Stories from Moms (2013); Two Chicken Soup for the Soul books, The Spirit of America (2016) and Military Families (2017); Stories Around the Table (2015); and Fast Fierce Women (2022).I am also a member of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, where I served on the Board for six years and as President from 2016 to 2018.
