Proud to have worked on Brendan Loughran's leadership team of Sir Rod Aldridge's flagship academy and the success it achieved. During my time there had the great pleasure of meeting a number of politicians, authors, olympians, entrepreneurs and football freestylers! Highlight was the official opening of the Academy by HRH Prince William and his then fiance Catherine Middleton. Personal highlight was working with some fantastic students and families in Darwen and seeing our first generation University Graduates excel with First Class Honours! Joined Darwen Moorland when it was placed in Special Measures - was appointed by Executive Head Gareth Dawkins to join his extended leadership team I was TUPED across to Darwen Aldridge Community Academy and was promoted to Assistant Principal under the leadership of Brendan Loughran.

Worked as teacher of languages at the then Beacon School and was quickly promoted as Assistant Head of Year then Whole School Attendance Co-ordinator and spent my final year at Priestnall as Head of Year 9. Worked alongside Dr Graham Nelmes, Allison Crompton, Linda Magrath, Jeremy Motler, Dave Rathbone and Steve Playford. Many colleagues at Priestnall went on to senior leadership and Headships.

Spent my NQT year working at Wilmslow and was sad to leave at the end of my temporary contract. Spent an enjoyable year being Form Tutor to a fantastic group of Year 8 students including 1 young lady Rachel Rodwell who continued to write to me even when she got to University. My time at Wilmslow highlighted my passion and genuine interest in providing quality pastoral care. Worked with some very talented staff and the formidable Roy Lyons and Gill Bremner.

Relocated back up North to start teacher training qualification (Sept 97) and took this job selling advertising space for the Manchester Chamber of Commerce magazine. Proud to have been gainfully employed since graduating.

Made the bold move to London after graduating and secured a reasonably well paid job for a blue chip company. Daily Telegraph was the UK's largest selling daily broadsheet at the time with a readership of 3.2 million. Made cold calls to car dealers, holiday reps and property sales sellind advertising space. Thursday night copy and sales deadline was such a buzz. Low point was the terrorist attack on Canary Wharf - eerie silence on the Docklands Light Railway on the commute back to work the following Monday. Great views from the 15th floor.

Spent a glorious year in France learning the language and teaching conversational English to students aged between 14-21 in a modern technical college (boarding school). Travelled a lot and made the most of the 1hr train journey to Paris.
