Arbutus Grove Nursery Ltd. specializes in growing containerized seedlings for reforestation. Their customers include forest companies, governments, First Nations bands, and woodlot owners in British Columbia and the US Pacific Northwest. My project is about investigating how the company can increase the seasonal harvesting capacity by 20% and to redesigning the production line accordingly.

A Programme Committee (PC) is an official body that gives (un)solicited advice to the Faculty Board and Faculty Council. It plays an important role in the decision making process within the faculty. The main responsibility of each PC is to guard the quality of education.

I guide the learning community sessions during which students work together on a project related to one of their courses or work on improving their academic skills like academic writing and presenting. They represent three very different fields of science that share a lot of common ground. ESTIEM is the network of all European IEM studies and stands for European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management. This network gives its members the opportunity to get in touch with other students in Europe.The ESTIEM network consists of 72 local groups and Groningen is one of them. Each local group organizes activities that are open for all 50.000 members of the ESTIEM network to join. This year our local group had a budget of €8000 and the workload of 0,3 fte. This year we organized a Semi Final Case Competition. During this event 40 participants from all over Europe joined Local Group Groningen for a week of case solving, a company visit at Akzo Nobel Delfzijl and fun activities in the evening. Also, we organized an exchange with Novi Sad for the members in Groningen and Novi Sad. Furthermore, we organized multiple daily activities here in Groningen and support our members to participate in activities organized abroad. Show less
