Over the past 25 years my professional experiences include PreK-5 Virtual Teacher, K-6 Reading Intervention, Writing Intervention, Math Intervention, Teacher Education Professor for Curriculum and Instruction as well as Classroom Teacher (K, 3, 4). I currently am an Instructional Designer for BJU Press where I oversee the content and delivery of instruction included in preschool and elementary math, and elementary ELA textbooks. As a Reading Specialist, I administered assessments, selected appropriate research-based intervention as a result of assessment data, planned and provided powerful intervention. It was a pleasure to apply these same skills in the area of mathematics as a math intervention teacher. To maximize student learning, I found communication and collaboration with the classroom teacher to be an essential factor in student success.I provided Academic Intervention Support in the areas of English Language Arts and mathematics at all intervention tiers. Through the use of progress monitoring and application of best practice, my teaching in the classroom and support programs resulted in documented significant percentile growth for my students. My tenure as a classroom teacher includes primary and intermediate grades. I worked closely with special education providers in an inclusive setting (15:1:1) to support the learning needs of students with Individualized Education Pans.A variety of professional experiences have provided me the opportunity to refine effective leadership qualities, communication skills and collaboration with others. As an Adjunct Professor for the State University of New York at Oswego, I developed a broad knowledge of best practices and educational theory. In my Integrated Childhood Methods class, I presented instructional strategies and research-based practices to adult learners preparing to enter the field of education. As a Student Teacher Supervisor, I had the opportunity to help teacher candidates apply these strategies and best practices to their teaching in all subject areas but specifically in reading and mathematics. My knowledge enabled me to work with teachers as we developed and implemented strategies to strengthen student achievement.With my experience and credentials, I earned a reputation as a disciplined and insightful educator.At BJU Press I work collaboratively with textbook writers, Biblical World View Specialists, and Educational Technology Specialists to produce textbooks for Christian education.
