Our mission is to promote access and equity on City of Austin contracts, providing economic opportunity to small, minority-owned, women-owned, and disadvantaged businesses.Who We AreThe Small and Minority Business Resources Department (SMBR) was established by City Council in 1987 to administer the Minority-Owned, Women-Owned, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Procurement Programs for the City of Austin. Our mission is to promote access and equity on City of Austin contracts, providing economic opportunity to small, minority-owned, women-owned, and disadvantaged businesses.What We DoSMBR is responsible for managing the certification and compliance of minority and women-owned firms for the City of Austin. We ensure that businesses that meet the eligibility criteria are certified as MBE/WBEs and stay in compliance with City of Austin Code of Ordinances.
