Utilized the research as technical constraints for innovation, design, architecture and technology choicesThe E1M platform has a multi-tenant architecture. Technologies used included LAMP tech stack with Bootstrap framework for the front-end. Kotlin was used for developing an Android mobile app against the API.

My strategic role was to develop, maintain and support SaaS products to ensure the business was scalable and sustainable. How I did this was to hire and take team of 2 developers to team of 9 - including dev ops and testers. My focus was on agile practices and culture with attention to development practices for quality, reusability and scalability. Unit testing, CI, design practices, addressing technical debt and automation were the tech practices. My “wins” were: improved integration between business and tech, visibility and increased responsiveness to support, a roadmap, monthly releases, scaling servers for double the number of users while increasing performance and accuracy.

I am one of the creators of the BriefYourMarket software product and company. The long road from an idea in 2006 to a SaaS automated marketing and communications company continues today. My role as a director in the early days included "everything". My enjoyment came from business strategy/planning, financial management, analysis, making the 1st few SA sales, and leading the development team. I proved the scalable business model and scalable product by selling the MVP to a few SA clients. With our UK partners and funding, we then grew BriefYourMarket into a companyWhile I am still a shareholder in BriefYourMarket, I am not involved on a day-to-day basis.

Infovest provides post-trade portfolio compliance, data management (in data warehouse) and reporting technology to the investment community. The products are built on the Microsoft stack using WPF, SQL Server, SSRS and Windows Workflow. I worked closely with the owners/founders to scale the company and deliver international ready software products. This involved facilitation of vision and strategy, creating technical and feature road-maps and planning. The result was double the headcount, an international ready product and recently international sales. An indication of this success is 51% of Infovest was acquired by Statpro earlier this year.I worked with both the development and implementation teams. This included client account management, hiring, creating an implementation methodology and coaching on support/testing/design. My job satisfaction came from coaching, facilitating technical agile practices, creating products while balancing delivery against transformation. Recent research and learning has been on context driven testing, hosting Infovest products in Azure VM’s and scaling for performance.
