Developed Japanese Optical Character Recognition program for Kanji and Kana with auto-detection of vertical and horizontal text. Developed a program to render 3D surface terrain model from GIS data files, as well as methods for Interactive Line of Sight evaluation and display based on cursor movement. Created a related program to support analysis and 3D display of oceanographic thermal data, including 3D rotation of thermoclines. Increased Japanese Optical Character Recognition accuracy from 85% to 98% by adjusting the algorithms and allowing user interaction to resolve ambiguous characters. Improved Orbital footprint and duration computations for larger satellite program by developing algorithms to determine Line of Sight contact between terrestrial point and satellite area of observation from first contact to final contact with pre-computation of duration.
