In my role I help guide the foundation's philanthropic investments to stimulate new business creation and job growth in Southeast Michigan and Israel. The William Davidson Foundation is a private family foundation that honors its founder and continues his lifelong commitment to philanthropy, advancing for future generations the economic, cultural and civic vitality of Southeast Michigan and the Jewish community. As an entrepreneur and investor, Bill Davidson helped boost local job creation and contributed to a thriving and resilient economy in the community where he lived and worked.

The Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN) is a Southeast Michigan collaborative effort between nine community colleges, seven workforce development agencies, and numerous other partners to assess the area’s workforce needs and supply the region’s employers, educational institutions and policy makers with the information they need to further cultivate and transform the region’s workforce. WIN serves three primary roles for Michigan: • Gather, analyze and distribute real-time labor supply and demand intelligence on workforce needs and characteristics specific to southeast Michigan• Serve as a resource hub and connection point for regional business, industry and other stakeholders in regard to workforce development• Conduct action research through specific programmatic efforts, in order to affect state, federal and local economic and workforce development policy. WIN’s vision underscores the need for all participating organizations to work together sharing responsibility, transparency and leveraging assets across the region in order to build and sustain a comprehensive and cohesive workforce/talent system in southeast Michigan.

I support integrated economic development strategies that focus on talent, entrepreneurship, and firm diversification. I have worked extensively with rural and urban communities, as well as various levels of government, helping identify and align an array of stakeholders around shared vision and strategies. I also have worked with partners to develop Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) pipelines into particular occupations (e.g., engineering) and sectors (e.g., aerospace-defense, health); and have supported various culture change initiatives tied to education attainment and new business creation.

WIRED Grants: Managed activities relating to Southeast Michigan’s status as a “virtual” Workforce Innovation and Regional Economic Development (WIRED) region, per designation by the U.S. Department of Labor.Great Lakes Manufacturing Council (GLMC): Directed strategic planning, establishment and growth of the GLMC, an economic development organization encompassing seven states and Ontario. Advocacy and Lobbying: Conducted local, state and federal policy advocacy (both legislative and regulatory) on a range of issues. Served as co-chair of Business for Economic Security Tourism & Trade (BESTT), a bi-national, northern- border coalition striving for secure but smooth cross-border movement of people and goods.Other Roles: Participated and spearheaded special strategic projects, including multi-year community planning and visioning initiatives, health care solution series for health systems, and Mackinac Policy Conference and other event programming.
