Dissertation projects:● Cutaneous reflexes: Investigated which hand muscles respond to a simulated touch stimulus (via surface electrical stimulation) applied at one fingertip and at what latencies do these response occur.● Muscle Length: Investigated the neural control of intrinsic (abductor and adductor) and extrinsic (flexor and extensor) finger muscles during changes in wrist position (i.e., changes in extrinsic muscle length).● Cutaneous finger stimulation: Investigated the ability of human subjects to discriminate which of four locations on the fingertip were stimulated using surface, low current electrical stimulation.Skills:Researched literature, designed experiments, collected surface and intramuscular electromyographic activity from muscles of the hand, recorded and analyzed force and position data (Polhemus, Vicon, Optotrak), created user interfaces and data collection programs (LabVIEW), created data analysis programs (MATLAB), wrote grants, drafted and published peer-reviewed journal manuscripts
