For the first 16 years of my career, I served as CMO advisor & marketing strategist at B2B marketing agencies Protocol B2B, Bulldog Solutions & The MX Group. During that time, I noticed CMOs were obsessed with "needing and doing more" — more budget, people, events, content, emails, and leads. This approach stemmed from a belief that their value was tied to the size of their budget and team, equating larger teams with greater importance and influence. Unfortunately, this obsession often led to bloated marketing departments delivering a ton of unimpactful activities, resulting in the early departure of these leaders once their organizations deemed them inefficient.In 2016, I had an epiphany: the key to maintaining a seat at the table wasn't about doing more; it was about needed and doing less — making fewer but strategically aligned investments in people, technology, and activities to deliver more impactful outcomes. I validated this as CMO at Huron, VP Corp Marketing at FARO then again as CMO at Cellebrite where I applied a proven framework with increasingly better results thanks to outsourcing, AI, ABM technology and automations. Results:- Created a competitive advantage for Huron by upleveling the marketing org, implementing a new master brand and thought leadership program activated through ground-breaking ABM strategy that drove a 52% increase in acct engagement and generated $255M marketing influenced revenue. Earned SiriusDecisions' 2018 ROI Award & DemandGen Report's 2018 B2B Innovator Award for C-Suite Strategy, - Transformed FARO's marketing, cutting expenses by 50% while achieving a 7X increase in lead-to-sales conversion rate and doubling sales velocity to deliver $114M revenue and a $13.36 return on marketing investment. Earned Forrester's 2022 ROI Award. - Repositioned Cellebrite as the leading provider of digital investigative solutions with the launch of the C2C platform, value-based messaging, and a global anti-child exploitation campaign. This strategic expansion broadened our market scope and TAM, lifting investor confidence and boosting our stock price.
