I utilized my strong writing a communication skills as Marketing Intern for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training fundraising campaign. Here, I initiated and managed relationships with local race directors to ensure wide distribution of promotional materials. I also independently developed and edited a fundraising recruitment brochure for distribution at local hospitals, crafted press releases, and managed organization updates on community websites.

As a Community Health Worker with ChildFund International in rural Senegal, Africa, I was member of a two-person team that provided health education in a village of 200 people. In addition to operating completely in French, I also learned the country's native language, Wolof, to better communicate with all village members and build strong relationships. Here, I recognized the opportunity to expand the health education curriculum, and proposed a plan to include health education in the village school. Culturally, this was fairly avant-garde, though with open communication and trusting teamwork, I managed this project from initiation through to implementation. As I navigated cultural nuances, I kept a blog. This connected my experiences to an American audience, which grew from 10 to 200 readers per day.
